Archive of past realizations

3D immersive virtual environment for visual rehabilitation

When a person becomes visually impaired, intensive rehabilitation is required to learn the skills necessary to accurately interpret sensory cues. Virtual reality (VR) can provide a safe and rich world for rehabilitation by rendering a complex environment. VR can stage challenges that can be faced with less stress than in the real outdoor world. Our current objective is to build VR outdoor scenes to assist the interpretation of sensory cues.

A new collection of video described movies in French produced by CRIM for BAnQ

This two-year project in digital accessibility and e-inclusion led to the launch, in 2017, of a brand new collection of 30 movies of all genres, from Quebec and France, adapted for the visually impaired by CRIM's Vision and Imaging Team and available for free through BAnQ.

ADNOTARE - Collection of tools for collaborative annotation

ADNOTARE: Collection of tools to build annotation platforms including VESTA and PACTE.

AutoCarto, a tool for the automatic detection of hydrographic contours satellite images

Automate the detection of waterbodies from satellite imagery in order to reduce manual labor, lower costs and maintain up to date information more effectively.

CANGEO, a Web service based on Landsat-8 imagery for the update of the national hydrographic vectors

COBVIS-D and SPEED-Q, projects on the cephalo-ocular behaviour of automobile drivers

The COBVIS-D project was aimed at developing a simulation environment for the analysis of the cephalo-ocular behavior in elderly drivers. It should pave the way for the implementation of more appropriate re-education programs and the development of tools for better identifying at-risk drivers.

Creating an immersive experience in a museum

Go beyond the scenes to explore a project realized by CRIM for the Musée du Fjord in Saguenay: an immersive multimedia show using a glasses-free 3D technology called FreeD.

ESGF (Earth System Grid Federation)

CRIM is a co-developer in the ESGF initiative, a project which was recently selected by R&D Magazine as one of the 100 best research and development projets for the year 2017. ESGF (Earth System Grid Federation) is a concerted development effort in climate and Earth System science that brings together major partners such as NASA and various research centers in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.

Evaluation of a library for the automatic detection of tree crowns

Évia - CRIM’s expertise tackles a real estate property assessment software

JLR, a company specialized in land title solutions, approached CRIM’s research team with the objective of optimizing their real estate property assessment software, Évia. This platform enables real estate agents or individuals to obtain a personalized report outlining the main features and market value of any property in Quebec, automatically and in a few minutes.

MONNET (Monitoring of Extended Premises)

The MONNET project was instigated by the Laboratoire de vision et systèmes numériques de l'Université Laval. It aimed at developing an intelligent vision system for the surveillance of people in public areas.

Participation at the technological evaluation TRECVID of NIST

PAVICS – Power Analytics and Visualization for Climate Science

A platform that harmonizes research in climatology in a phenomenal way. Operating on networked supercomputers, it will enable Canadian and international scientists to design and visualize customized climate change scenarios to study their impacts and adaptation opportunities.

VESTA - Collaborative multimedia content annotation platform

VESTA is a timeline based annotation platform of multimedia content. It offers an integrated set of innovative computer tools for analyzing and annotating audio and video recordings. These tools allows to significantly accelerate, and in some cases, automate the analysis and annotation of your recordings.
