Vision and Imaging
The Vision and Imagery team specializes in the digital analysis and processing of visual information arising from various sources. It develops algorithms and customized software solutions for any type of control, tracking, exploration, recognition or diagnosis application that requires automated handling and interpretation of visual data in images or videos.
Our expertise

Video and image analysis
Depending on your specific application needs, we can develop the required software tools that will aid you in analyzing your images.
Remote sensing and GeoSpatial analysis
We notably possess an internationally recognized expertise for processing optical and polarimetric satellite imagery.
Human-machine interaction and cognitive ergonomics
Many of our research projects exploit the visual analysis of the end-user in order to improve human-machine interaction.
Computer graphics and augmented reality
In conjunction with our services of vision and image processing, our team also supplies an expertise in computer graphics including physical simulation, image synthesis and 3D animation.

AutoCarto, a tool for the automatic detection of hydrographic contours satellite images
Automate the detection of waterbodies from satellite imagery in order to reduce manual labor, lower costs and maintain up to date information more effectively.

Team Director and Senior Researcher
Samuel Foucher joined CRIM in 2002 to lend his scientific expertise to team projects. Since 2013, he holds the position of Director of the Vision and imaging team.
