Ouranos is a consortium created in 2001 by the Québec government, Hydro-Quebec, Environment Canada with the support of Valorisation-Recherche-Québec. Based on a network of 450 scientists and specialists from various disciplines, the consortium is dedicated to climate science and adaptation to climate change. Its mandate is to acquire and develop knowledge on climate change and its impacts, as well as relevant socio-economic and environmental vulnerabilities, to help policymakers identify, evaluate, promote and implement national, regional and local adaptation strategies.
