Since IT systems are critical elements for achieving organizations business objectives, controlling their evolution and the impact of these changes on their users is crucial. This course will allow students to master the Service Transition processes and facilitate their planning and integration.

Prerequisites

ITIL® V3 Foundation certification in IT Service Management or ITIL® V3 Foundation Bridge from LCS, EXIN or ISEB. Experience in systems and implementation management.  Read the following ITIL® publications published by OGC before the course: Service Transition

Target Audience

This course is for personnel involved in the planning, implementing, managing and improving the Change Management, Release and Deployment Management, Service Asset and Configuration Management, Testing and Validation or Service Knowledge Management processes or other Services Transition related processes.

Objectives

  • Determine the considerations related to implementation and to improvement of the Change Management, Release and Deployment Management, Service Asset and Configuration Management processes, Service Knowledge Management and Testing and Validation;
  • Understand the inherent concepts of these processes and their interactions, as well as their relationships with the other IT Service Management processes;
  • Apply the concepts to a case study;
  • Confidently pass the ''ITIL® V3 Intermediate – Capabilities –RCV'' APMG certification exam thanks to your subject knowledge.

  • Processes and procedures of Change Management, Release and Deployment Management, Service Asset and Configuration Management, Testing and Validation and Service Knowledge Management
  • Change Advisory Board (CAB), change authorization and approval cycles
  • Coordination of building, testing and deployment of changes
  • Calendar of changes and post-implementation review
  • Definitive Media Library (DML) and spare equipment locations (DHS)
  • Strategies for release composition and version deployment
  • Definition and content of the Configuration Management DataBase (CMDB), Configuration Management System (CMS) and Service Knowledge Management System (SKMS)
  • Updating the CMDB and the SKMS
  • Testing and Validation strategy and plans
  • Links and dependencies with the Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement activities
  • Roles and responsibilities associated with the presented processes
  • Technology supporting the presented processes
  • Metrics and Key Performance Indicators for managing the presented processes
  • Links and dependencies with the Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Operation and Continual Service Improvement activities

ITIL Credits

Successful completion of the course and exam will give the student 4 ITIL V3 credits.
