From Locus Dialogue to Nu Echo: Speech recognition, a CRIM expertise for more than 30 years


In the 1990s, CRIM started developing a speech recognition technology that would soon place it among the world leaders in the field. As soon as 1992, experts from CRIM were taking part in international competitions and technological evaluations.

From the creation of its first Speech Recognition Team to the foundation of Locus Dialogue and Nu Echo, CRIM's expertise has made it a key player that still offers cutting-edge technological tools to various clients in Canada and around the world.

Yves Normandin, CEO at Nu Echo, tells the story of his company's origins. Nu Echo offers products and services for call centers. Its origins go all the way back to the creation of the first Speech Recognition team at CRIM and to the foundation of Locus Dialogue, the first independent company derived from CRIM research. In both videos, Mr Normandin discusses the role that CRIM and its researchers have played in his career and various innovative business projects.
