Summary of the various projects developed by CRIM in the field of automatic closed-captioning.

Automatic segmentation of proposals

CRIM collaborated on a project conducted by TEC (Technology Evaluation Centers) that focused on the segmentation of unstructured data for classifying proposals. In this project, CRIM produced a data segmentation algorithm using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning techniques.

The Speech and Text team has been developing various speech and speaker recognition technologies for over 30 years. Its expertise soon placed it among the world leaders in the field. The team often participates in international competitions in order to test its methods and compare them with those of other researchers in the field.

Megaphone project

Megaphone was an interactive outdoor installation in Montréal's Quartier des spectacles (QDS), that allowed citizens to speak out publicly on a theme of their choice.CRIM participated as a consultant for speech recognition in the project's initial phase, provided its technologies for real-time and offline recognition, and contributed to the integration of its technologies into the system installed at QDS.

PACTE - Collaborative electronic text annotation platform

PACTE is a collaborative annotation web platform for text content that integrates an array of practical tools for research groups.

Participation in TRECVID 2009 and TRECVID 2011 evaluations

PAVICS – Power Analytics and Visualization for Climate Science

A platform that harmonizes research in climatology in a phenomenal way. Operating on networked supercomputers, it will enable Canadian and international scientists to design and visualize customized climate change scenarios to study their impacts and adaptation opportunities.

Text/dialog synchronization for postsynchronization and dubbing

This project aimed at the creation of a vocal alignment technology and to its integration into an existing postsynchronization and dubbing system for Ryscho Media (became DubSynchro, now called Indekso). This company specializes in dubbing for cinema and television.

VESTA - Collaborative multimedia content annotation platform

VESTA is a timeline based annotation platform of multimedia content. It offers an integrated set of innovative computer tools for analyzing and annotating audio and video recordings. These tools allows to significantly accelerate, and in some cases, automate the analysis and annotation of your recordings.
