A CRIM employee since 2010, Jean-Philippe Nantel holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics from École Polytechnique de Montréal.

His master’s thesis subject was the dynamic cumulation of constraints for the construction of personalized monthly building-blocks in a context of fairness. Jean-Philippe worked on the development, training and user support for Le Solutionneur, a school scheduling and timetabling program supplied by CRIM. He also designed a tool for planning the restoration of electrical networks, in collaboration with CGI. In 2015, CGI and the CRIM were awarded the Technological Partnership Prize by ADRIQ for this project.

In addition, Jean-Philippe has worked on the problems inherent with the application of machine-learning techniques in a business context, and on information security applications.

As director of the Emerging Technologies and Data Science Team since April 2017, Jean-Philippe Nantel seeks to develop and solidify some of the team’s specific areas of expertise, such as research platforms and data science, while closely following the development of emerging technologies such as Blockchain.
