Claude Chapdelaine is the main resource in the team for cognitive ergonomics and human-computer interactions. At the start of her career, she collaborated to the development of various cutting-edge projects in computer technologies as an advisor in human factors. From 1991 to 1996, while at CITI (Center for Information Technologies Innovation), she conducted experimental research on usability and navigational issues associated with multimedia and large datasets.

At CRIM since 1997, Claude has collaborated to the implementation and evaluation of multiple IT projects in areas such as automatic speech recognition and vision and imaging. Later, she led a project that aimed to improve the generation of closed-captioning subtitles for the deaf or hard-of-hearing based on eye-tracking technology.

Recently, she has been working on providing computer-assisted video description for the blind and visually impaired. She is also involved in projects related to the detection of facial expressions, and she is a certified FACS coder for facial expressions.

Claude is presently responsible for the technological transfer of the video description technology (projects PSVT01, ONF23 and FILMODIO) and for the development of a 3D immersive environment to assist visual impairment rehabilitation.
