Pierre-Luc St-Charles joined CRIM in May 2011 as an intern, and continued working there part-time throughout his studies. He then became a postdoctoral researcher in April 2018.

Pierre-Luc holds a a doctorate in computer engineering from Polytechnique Montréal (Université de Montréal), and worked on many video surveillance projects at the LITIV (Laboratoire d'Interprétation et de Traitement d'Images et de Vidéos). His thesis was focused on video segmentation via background subtraction, and on visible-infrared fusion for detecting and tracking objects of interest in difficult conditions.

His main areas of interest are computer vision and machine learning, more precisely object detection and tracking, image segmentation, and 3D scene reconstruction/modelling.
