Since its foundation in 1989, RISQ has played a key role in Quebec society. It supports innovation and connectivity for all universities and cégeps, school boards, research centres, university hospital centres and various cultural and service organizations.

RISQ is part of the advanced research and education networks deployed in America, Europe and internationally. It is part of a network of thirteen provincial and territorial partners, which together form Canada's National Research and Education Network (NREN).

Thanks to its interconnection with the powerful digital infrastructure of the CANARIE Network, RISQ connects researchers, teachers and students to each other and to data, research infrastructure, classrooms, nationally and globally.
