CRIM celebrates 35 years of impact!

May 20, 2021, CRIM held a virtual event to celebrate 35 years of technological and economic impact.

Distinguished guests included Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec Minister of the Economy and Innovation, and Luc Sirois, Chief Innovator and Executive Director of the Quebec Innovation Council.

Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of the Economy and Innovation, has confirmed a maximum grant of grant of up to $20 million to the Centre de recherche informatique de Montréal (CRIM) to support its applied digital technology research activities and operations over the next five years. In addition, through the Programme de soutien aux organismes de recherche et d’innovation, the Québec government is providing CRIM with $2 million to support its Computing and Storage Infrastructure project for research and development activities.

Quebec’s Chief Innovator, Mr. Luc Sirois, spoke of the importance of an institution such as CRIM in the development of a digital innovation ecosystem, and the impact CRIM has had on Quebec’s development.

Françoys Labonté and Guillaume Bazinet, CRIM’s President and CEO and Chairman of the Board respectively, presented a a pictorial overview of CRIM’s history s history and its scientific and economic impact over the decades.

The celebration also provided an opportunity for two companies to talk about how their project with CRIM has helped them stand out in their sector: Martin Lafrance, President and co-founder, UEAT, and Christian Nadeau, Executive Director – Earth Observation, Effigis Geo-Solutions.
