Applied innovation at the service of society
At CRIM, science is applied with heart and rigor.
Our mission is clear: to provide research and development in artificial intelligence, primarily for the benefit of Quebec SMEs. We transform technological advances into concrete solutions that contribute to the progress of Quebec businesses and society as a whole.
Our approach is applied, collaborative, rigorous and responsible. It relies on the combination of data, algorithms and an ethical framework to build reliable, useful and transparent AI.
Every year, more than 80 companies are supported in their digital transformation, their responsible adoption of technologies and their quest for competitiveness.
CRIM also stands out for its scientific outreach. Our experts are actively involved in the dissemination of applied research and in dialogue with industrial and scientific circles, both in Quebec and internationally. The year 2024 was particularly rich in contributions, with notable publications in such varied fields as:
- multimodal emotional recognition,
- speaker verification,
- AI for accessibility,
- integration of geospatial standards.
Our work has been presented at prestigious international conferences such as IEEE CVPR, ISCA ICASSP and NeurIPS. Notable research projects include:
- the use of crossed attention for audio-visual fusion in emotional recognition,
- studying the robustness of speaker verification systems in the face of labeling noise,
- exploration of diffusion models for hypertrucage detection.
CRIM is also involved in the ethical reflections surrounding AI, notably through seminars on responsible AI. This commitment testifies to our desire to advance science while responding to current societal issues.
