Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières

Founded on March 19, 1969, the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) identifies closely with regional development in the Mauricie and the Centre-du-Québec. It assumes a training and research vocation that covers most of the principal fields of knowledge. Each year it welcomes more than 14 000 students from all parts of Québec as well as from many foreign countries; about 16,5% of them are in graduate programs. More than 60 000 make up its alumni network. UQTR is the only institution in Québec to offer initial training to the health professionals in chiropractic, in midwifery and in podiatry. UQTR is synonymous with excellence in its accounting program, with research institutes having a distinctive mission nationally with respect to SMEs and the hydrogen technologies, R&D in pulp and paper, research on the ecology of the St. Laurence River and several niche programs in the human and social sciences, such as Québec studies. UQTR is also among the leaders in Québec to use the information communication technologies (ICT) for the mediatisation of teaching.
